December Dreadlines…


After 11 months of saying how busy I am, I finally had a quiet month. That’s because I deliberately turned away a lot of work in December so that I could focus on other stuff and have a jolly old Christmas instead. That meant I had time to catch up with old friends, see my nephew and get some decent walking done on the moors. It turns out that some of my friends had even listed to Unlimited Hyperbole – they described it as ‘about as pretentious as I expected of you‘.

Now the quiet period is over though, I’m back in London and working on stuff full time again – which means it’s time to look back on what I did last month, as well as how 2012 went as a whole.

There’ll be minimal grumpiness, I promise.

Unlimited Hyperbole #11

As Season Three of Unlimited Hyperbole is focused on matters of character in videogames, talking to a writer such as James Swallow only makes sense; in addition to being a New York Times bestseller James has also worked on games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Killzone 2 and Fable: The Journey.

In this first episode for Season Three James talks about the process of writing for a game, how Eidos Montreal built a convincing cast for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and how writers are able to contribute to far more than just the character dialogue.

Unlimited Hyperbole is a short, weekly podcast about videogames and the stories we tell about them.
